Section 3 – HDLC/PPP - 3 Points
3.1 PPP
“Authenticate these links using the routers’ respective hostnames and the clear-text password CISCO.”
The requirement to use a “clear-text password” means that you’ll need to use PAP authentication.
Although this was an easy task, I did stumble at one point:
r3(config-if)#ppp pap sent-username r2 pass CISCO
PPP: Warning: You have chosen a username/password combination that
is valid for CHAP. This is a potential security hole.
DOH!!! It’s always good to remember what router you are configuring.
I am really glad you started posting your experience with the actual labs from the workbook
But I have a small request.
Can you please advise a week before you are starting the next lab so others can try working on the lab with you as well
It will be better to share comments reading your posts will be very helpful then
Something like study group to encourage everyone for studying

@Aly
Thank you for the suggestion.
I (usually) post a weekly status update (look for Status Updates in the categories in the right column of the blog) which tells what I plan to do in the coming week. I try to get those up on Monday. Sometimes I post them late (I just posted this week’s update today). You can just scan to the bottom of the post and check out the “Goals for next week” section to see which labs I am working on.
This week’s update is here: http://cciepursuit.wordpress.com/2007/12/19/status-update-10-16-december/
I will be doing Volume III (former Core Workbook) lab 3 this weekend.
